Earthen Faery: Rose
Meet Earthen Faery: Rose
Rose was one of my very first faeries that I created and is very special to me. She has brown wire extremities with bits of paper clay to her legs. Her head and spine are made from polymer clay. Her eyes are black and shiny just as all of my woodland
faeries. Her botanical body is covered in real miniature rose petals as well as her hands. Rose lives in the woodlands and when she found this rose she was fascinated by it.
Rose has just sold in my Etsy shop but I think I will be doing many more flower inspired Earthen faeries.
Earthen Faeries; Apple Annie

Meet Earthen Faery: Apple Annie
Apple Annie is a wanderer. She prefers to live within the forest with all of its inhabitants. She sleeps out in the open usually high up in the trees so she can be closer to the stars and closer to her dreams.
Her clothing is rather plain and is torn. Her meger dress has an apple slice collar and a tattered brown ribbon around the waist. She doesn't care if no one notices her, she prefers it that way.
She wears a botanical fruit slice hat and has pretty but tattered set of wings. She is kneeling and ho
lds her basket of apples in her one arm and holds out a single apple for examination to all who care to purchase. A worn-out brown slouch bag draps over her shoulders. Inside the bag is where Annie keeps her things. All that she cares to own.. a wornout 'Jane Eyre' book, a newspaper and a tiny jewel that she once found deep within the forest. Little does she know that the green jewel holds many magical powers.
I made a wood slice display for Annie. She is kneeling as she sells her apples.. there is a sign, 'Apples for Sale' burnt into it. As my fairy house bases, my fairy bases will also have a forest scene painted on the bottom and will include my signature and year.
If we try hard enough, we can find some good memories even out of a not-so-great time in our lives. I have fond childhood memories of watching the movie "Pocketful of Miracles" starring Glenn Ford, Bette Davis and the beautiful Hope Lange. My Apple Annie fairy was inspired by this movie classic.
Posting more soon! My Etsy shop will be in 'vacation mode' beginning Monday, April 29 and will re-open Monday, May 6th. Stop by to see some more new fairy houses and Earthen Faeries! ~ Mare

So, I have been talking about my new fairy creations and how I am having such fun making them! So here is a look at a few woodland fairies that I have recently made.
Earthen Faeries by Woodland Fairy Village
Whether you are a firm believer in fairies or faeries, my forest faeries are certainly different. Intentionally so.
My vision was to create a fairy that comes from the earth. Magical, mysterious, enchanting faeries that are born from nature. My faeries are curious faeries, they inhabit the forest and discover all the elements in their surroundings daily.
Earthen faeries may look unhappy, dirty, happy and more.
They have some 'human' type features but also have many forest features as well. They will at times have uneven arms, unperfected features, leaves, moss, twigs and more.
Are their faces sculpted perfectly? Nope. I cannot claim that my fairies are a perfect work of clay sculpture. But they are my creation. I have a vision and I strive every time to make them better and make them like I see them.. in the world of a enchanted forest.
Here are just a few of Woodland Fairy Village's "Earthen Faeries:"
It's amazing how each fairy transforms into a vision as I am creating it. They all have their very own story. This 'set' was inspired by my painting named, "Safra Sorrofolus." Safra is a fairy that has lost her love and still till this day wails in the
forest for all to hear.. as she searches for him.
A tragic story with a poem to match this set portrays Safra in a dress of
black ..distressed while Hugo the fairy artist paints her portrait. Using a miniature of my own original art work, handmade paint brush and palette this set has 2 fairies and an easel:

This next one is a "Elessandra." She loves to play in the meadows and fields and sometimes she stirs up some beaufiful butterflies. She has a matching purple flower petal leaf dress, purple distressed wings and the butterfly is purple as well. She looks as if she is leaping up towards the butterfly:

I'll show more within the next few days! These are not up on Etsy as of yet.. and I will definitely be placing some within my new store right here at Woodland Fairy Village. My new shop will be up and running within a few weeks, so please check back often!
